Correct the Record at the Source. Fix Wrong Facts Where They Start.
When a news article, a data aggregator, a company profile, or an AI answer states something about you that is simply wrong, the durable fix is a correction at the source. Reputation X documents the error, makes the case to whoever controls the page, and verifies the correction spreads to Google and AI systems.
Trusted by companies and individuals worldwide since 2005
Correcting the record means getting a factual error fixed on the page where it was published — a wrong date, title, figure, or attribution in a news article, directory, corporate profile, Wikipedia entry, or Knowledge Panel — rather than trying to hide the page. It works when the fact is demonstrably wrong and you can prove it. It does not apply to accurate reporting or to opinion; those are suppression conversations. Most corrections take weeks, not days, because the publisher decides.
Evidence First, Then the Request
Every correction request we send carries documentation: the primary record that establishes the fact, the exact wording that is wrong, and the exact wording that is right. Editors and data teams act on evidence, not on complaints, so we assemble the evidence before we contact anyone.
Why Correct Instead of Remove or Suppress
A corrected source stays corrected. A suppressed page can resurface, and a removal request against accurate content will be refused.
Fix It Where It Starts
Search results, Knowledge Panels, and AI answers all copy from a small number of sources. Correct the source and the copies follow.
Evidence, Not Argument
Publishers correct what they can verify. We supply the primary documents so the decision is easy to make.
Corrections Travel
Once the source changes, we re-check Google, the Knowledge Panel, and the major AI systems until the corrected version is what they show.
Honest About the Odds
We tell you before work begins which errors are correctable, which are a matter of opinion, and which are accurate and therefore a suppression problem.
Works Alongside Removal and Suppression
Where a page cannot be corrected, we hand off to removal or suppression rather than keep asking.
Legal Route When Warranted
For defamatory statements we coordinate with your counsel; a correction request and a legal notice are different tools and we do not confuse them.
Where Wrong Facts Live, and What Corrects Them
The source determines the route. The audit maps every error to one of these before any request goes out.
| Where the error lives | Typical example | What corrects it |
|---|---|---|
| News article | Wrong title, date, figure, or attribution in a published story | Documented correction request to the editor; an update note or corrected text |
| Data aggregators and directories | Outdated address, wrong executive, defunct status | Claim or verify the listing; submit records through the platform process |
| Company and executive profiles | Crunchbase, LinkedIn, Bloomberg, or trade-press profiles carrying old facts | Owner update where you control the profile; sourced edit request where you do not |
| Wikipedia and Wikidata | Incorrect founding year, role, or event in the article or its data item | Sourced edit request through independent editors under conflict-of-interest rules |
| Google Knowledge Panel | Panel shows the wrong image, description, or merged identity | Fix the upstream sources the panel reads, then use Google feedback where eligible |
| AI answers | ChatGPT or Gemini repeats a fact that was corrected elsewhere | Correct the retrieved sources, then re-test on a schedule until the answer changes |
Why a Correction Beats a Takedown When the Facts Are Wrong
Most damaging search results are not lies; they are accurate. But a meaningful share of what ranks for a person or company contains plain factual errors: a lawsuit reported as lost when it was dismissed, an executive listed at a firm they left years ago, a founding date copied wrong and then copied again. Those errors are correctable, and correcting them is cheaper and more permanent than trying to push the page down.
Reputation X has been working with publishers, directories, and reference sites since 2005. The process has not changed much: prove the fact, ask the right person in the right way, and confirm the change reached everything downstream.
What Counts as Correctable
A statement of fact that a primary record contradicts: court filings, corporate registrations, dated announcements, official biographies. Characterizations, opinions, and accurate-but-unflattering reporting are not correctable and we say so up front.
How Corrections Propagate
Google, Knowledge Panels, and AI assistants rebuild their answers from a small set of trusted pages. When those pages change, the downstream answers change on their own schedule, typically within weeks. We re-test each one and report what has updated and what has not.

Propagation Checks
Scheduled re-tests of Google and the major AI systems, with a report of what has updated and what has not.
What We Cannot Change
-
We cannot make a publisher alter accurate reporting or a stated opinion; if the content is true, this becomes a suppression conversation and we will tell you so on the first call.
-
We cannot force a correction. Editors, platforms, and Wikipedia editors decide; our job is to make the decision easy with evidence.
-
A corrected page does not automatically move in search rankings. Correction fixes what a page says, not where it ranks.
-
AI systems update on their own schedule. After a source is corrected we re-test for weeks, and some answers lag longer than others.
